I'm Still Here
There’s no righteous man among us
so the homeless poet said
I only speak for me but I’ve got tangles in my head
Presumption’s and pretension’s a disease without a cure
Am I fighting right or wrong I’m never really sure
A holy book is not a gun was never meant to be
The rationale for any unfair fight or pro-war policy
But an accident’s no accident, its done in shady deals
While the mirror casts aspersions on new century appeals
But I’m still here with you
Image is the new form of the racist politic
Take vacation down to re-hab and
you’ll get your image fixed
A spoonful of forgiveness for
the things I’ve said and done
Now I’m standing at the fault line and I’m not the only one
But I’m still here with you
Can we really change or do we play by Steinbeck’s rules
There’s a fire down on one end
and
the other there’s a fool
Dilettantes and privilege in a paper thin disguise
If you tell enough untruths you can make this paradise
