RECENT PRAISE FOR MACON GREYSON:
(FOR REAL)

" Macon Greyson, 20th Century Accidents: Members of this Dallas guitar-beating quartet exorcise their "John Q Blues" with more than a few belts from Uncle Tupelo's whiskey bottle, proving, for the approximately 1,835th time, that turning your amps up as loud as they can go is still foolproof, if temporary, therapy"

-- Chris Gray,HOUSTON PRESS (1/03/08)

"But this band really shines on the rockers, where they take the no-frills ethos of the best bar bands and kick it right into the back alley. The bluesy Stones swagger of “Black Light” may offer the best Keith Richards guitar lick since “Brown Sugar,” and the sturdy power chords of the title track and “Minnesota Weather Map” will have the air guitarists pumping their fists. It’s straightforward rock ‘n roll for the millionth time, and, as is the case with all such miracles, it sounds utterly fresh and vital. "

-- Andy Whitman, PASTE Magazine (8/28/07)

No 'Accident': There's a heft and durability to Macon Greyson's music that makes it feel instantly familiar. 20th Century Accidents, the Dallas quartet's third full-length album, is a rugged, rocking effort pulled forward by lead singer Buddy Huffman's raw barroom yelp. Produced by Dallas' mixmaster general Salim Nourallah and the band at Nourallah's Pleasantry Lane Studio, these 11 tracks hit like cinderblocks and linger like the kisses of a long-gone love. The highlights are numerous, but stand-out cut Naive Melody is the record's apex; shot through with emotion, it might just be the soundtrack to your next lonely, beer-soaked night.

Dallas-based Macon Greyson, a quartet not a guy, has a firm handle on Southern plains garage rock with a message. Just listen to "Naive Melody" or the title track and you'll see what I mean.

"John Q Blues" is an energetic, indie-punk rocker while the powerful-get-their comeuppance track "Time" could be something The Shins might have recorded. And then a song like "Black Light" will have a Stones-y riff and plenty o' cowbell. The MG's know their stuff. Look to hear more about these Texans in the near future.

MAKONURU, Japan — The Oct. 9 release from Dallas band Macon Greyson titled 20th Century Accidents has caused a near frenzy in Makonuru, a town off the coast of Osaka. Eager customers lined the only paved street in town for their copy of the CD, and orders quickly reached the thousands. The local music/lumber store completely exhausted their shipment by noon. However, upon opening the booklet and finding four scruffy Americans playing loud guitar rock, the townspeople quickly realized that this was not the newest release from local Makonuru Taiko drum master, Grey Song. All returns were refused by the owner of the record shop, Tai-Shi Soro. "Returns are not policy! Getting lost in translation not my fault," explained Soro. The locals have quickly acclimated to the album, however, describing it as "fun" and "energetic." Plans for re-routing Macon Greyson's tour to the village are currently underway.

MACON GREYSON ROCKS OUT GRANADA THEATER WITH SMART AND MOSTLY-CHEERFUL MUSIC - EMO FANS CRY FOUL (Dallas, TX) Local rock band MACON GREYSON performed a spirited set of straightforward rock hits to their hometown crowd last Friday night at the prestigious Granada Theater. While 98% of those in attendance reported a rollicking-good-time, a small group of individuals wearing very tight jeans, sweaters in the summer and thick, black glasses (often identified as "EMO" fans) vocalized their dissatisfaction with the musical content: "Listen, I don't get dressed up like this so I can go see smart, yet raw rock-n-roll. I need to hear more songs about my conflicted feelings and how much I hate my father - all screamed in mostly unintelligible gibberish. Most of all, nobody on stage is wearing any eyeliner. This sucks! I think I'm going to cry." (full story coming soon)

PRACTICALLY UNKNOWN ROCK BAND MEETS UNFORTUNATE DEMISE DURING PUBLICITY PHOTO SHOOT. All four members of local musical act MACON GREYSON fatally injured themselves during a publicity photo shoot last week. In preparation for the October 9th release of their fourth album, the unfortunately titled "20th Century Accidents", the band was ordered by their record label to jump on trampolines with scissors directly beneath their chins. Lyrics from the new song Minnesota Weather Map inspired the now tragic concept.

"I guess we should have listened to conventional wisdom: 'Don't jump on a trampoline with sharp scissors'" gasped lead singer Buddy Huffman in his last breaths, "but sticking to the rules isn't very "rock-and-roll".
